* Lecithin may be helpful in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It seems to aid mental functions. May also be helpful to multiple sclerosis patients as it helps to strengthen nerve sheaths, which tend to suffer from the disease. It may also be helpful in the treatment of atherosclerosis.
* Lecithin is found in all living things. Healthy people on a
good balanced diet do not need additional amounts of lecithin.
If supplements are taken, two tablespoons of lecithin granules
per day is sufficient. The easiest way to take it is to mix it
with other foods, such as yogurt or applesauce.
* It works with choline (a B vitamin) in the body for the production
of acetylcholine, which is necessary for proper function of the
nervous system.
